Governor Tony Evers has appointed Jack Salzwedel to the board of directors of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. This appointment fills the vacancies created by Rebecca Cook’s resignation from the board.

Salzwedel is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Family Mutual Insurance Co., which has been with us since 2011. Prior to becoming Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Salzwedel, President and Chief Operating Officer of the American Family, announced plans to resign as CEO earlier this year in January 2022.

Salzwedel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He is a member of several committees, including the American Family Children’s Hospital Development Advisory Board, the Aldo Leopold Foundation, the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Dane County, and the UW Prime Minister’s Advisory Board.

The WEDC Board of Directors consists of state legislators, department secretaries, and private sector individuals with relevant business-related experience. The Board provides WEDC with leadership and operational oversight that represents the interests of public and private economic development throughout the state.
