Toms River, NJWPIX) – A teenage boy was killed when sand broke on a beach in New Jersey on Tuesday, trapping him and his sister, police said.

According to police, paramedics were able to rescue a trapped 17-year-old girl, but her brother, 18-year-old Levy Caverley, who lives in Maine, collapsed and died. It wasn’t immediately clear if the teenage girl was injured.
Over the weekend, a similar incident killed a 13-year-old in Utah.

Authorities believe that teenager Ian Spendlove in Santa Clara, Utah, was digging a tunnel beside the dunes when the tunnel “unexpectedly collapsed.” Spendlove was found more than 6 feet below the sand.
The first responder performed CPR and rushed Spendlove to the hospital, but the teen was declared dead on Sunday.
