Las Vegas (KTNV) — A long-time favorite in Las Vegas for live music and cocktails, the Sand Dollar Lounge opens its second location in Las Vegas. Plaza Hotel-Casino This autumn.
“Downtown Sand Dollar focuses on recreating the classic era of electric blues and rock and roll in downtown corridors,” said Nathan Greats, co-owner of Sand Dollar.
According to a spokesperson for the venue, the Sand Dollar Blues Bar first opened in 1976 and has been on the stage for over 30 years with some of Bruce’s greatest legends and many other well-known musicians.
The Sand Dollar Blues Bar closed in 2007, but revived in 2009 when the Sand Dollar Lounge opened on Spring Mountain Road in honor of the tradition and history of Las Vegas’ iconic venue.
In 2015, the Sand Dollar Lounge will be taken over by its current owners, Greats and Anthony Jamison, with the aim of regaining its original luster and building it.
Today, the iconic venue will open Downtown Sand Dollar. It will be approximately 5,000 square feet of space adjacent to the Plaza’s casino floor.

According to the representative, the venue will offer a full menu of craft cocktails using pop-up pizza pizzas. Live music, local acting and other headliners will be on stage on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
“We are very pleased to extend Sand Dollar’s legacy to downtown Las Vegas at the Plaza,” said co-owner Jamison.
