Tucson, Arizona (KGUN) — After a quiet 2020, this year’s downtown Tucson will bring back a holiday celebration.

On the first day of “Miracle on Congress Street” on Friday at Congress and Fifth Avenue, Santa Claus met and greeted the local family again.

Last December, Santa stood on the roof of the Playground Bar and Grill to comply with the COVID-19 protocol. Kristel Johnson, general manager of HUB Ice Cream, said Centnick dropped the letter by lowering the children’s letterbox on the sidewalk below.

These letters have been handed over this year. However, Santa stays on the sleigh away from his family to extend his social distance.

“We want to be as conscious as possible and as safe as possible, but still want to enjoy the magic of Christmas and share it with Tucson’s children and family,” Johnson said. Says. “That’s why testing is so important to be part of the community.”

Miracle on Congress Street also offers free ice cream and hot cocoa for children. Adults can buy holiday-themed cocktails.

Organizers are also collecting non-perishable food donations for community food banks during the busiest season of the year.

“Miracle on Congress Street” will be held Friday and Saturday from 4 pm to 6:30 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm until December 19th.

Downtown Tucson is hosting a variety of holiday events and activities this year known as “Desert Night Downtown Lights”.

However, not all events will be back in December of this year. The 2021 Light and Festival Parade Canceled for 2 consecutive years Due to the influence of the pandemic.
