South Carolina Spartanberg (WSPA) – The South Carolina Natural Resources Department said the law enforcement department will provide boat inspections at public landing sites in preparation for the Memorial Day weekend.
According to SCDNR, officers will conduct a quick and thorough inspection to ensure that seafarers have the necessary safety equipment and outboard motor registration before launch.
Inspections are voluntary and not mandatory, officials said.
According to SCDNR, seafarers who agree to the inspection do not comply with safety regulations or registration requirements.
Officials said boaters would not be issued during the free inspection, but would have the opportunity to fix problems with the boat before launch.
SCDNR said executives could also answer questions and give hints to boaters on how to stay safe on the water.
Anniversary weekend shuttle boat inspections will be held the next day.
