Colorado Springs, Colorado — Senior Airman Ricky Teagle, Airman at Schreiber Space Force Base, was identified as drowning on September 5 in the Rampart Reservoir, northwest of Colorado Springs.

His body recovered on September 8.

Teagle was a defensive space control operator for the satellite control network of the 22nd Space Operations Squadron, which is part of SpaceDelta 6 headquartered in Schriever Space Force Base.

“Ricky was elected to both the Peterson-Shreber Garrison Honorary Guard and the Ceremony Guard in 2020, and 22nd SOPS Commander Lieutenant Colonel Blendon Harbeck said:” His belief: Unbelievable professionalism, courage, and excellence will be lost among the squadrons. “

Teagle joined the Air Force in September 2018 and was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Strip, the War on Terror Military Medal of Honor, and the Air Force Training Ribbon during his career.

Grief counseling is available and a memorial service is planned by the squadron.

Officials say Teagle was drowned in a paddleboarding accident at a reservoir. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
