Las Vegas (KLAS) — A second wildfire is burning on State Highway 160 (the highway between Las Vegas and Pahrump). This is a fire in the Cottonwood Valley.
The fire was discovered after 11:00 am, according to the Nevada Wildfire Information Map. The fire is just south of the fork on Cottonwood Pass Road, about five miles southwest of Las Vegas.
The fire is small and consumes only about one tenth of an acre. At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown.
This is the second fire in the area. The Sundi Valley fire was about 10 miles southwest of Las Vegas along State Highway 160 and consumed about 1,380 acres. The fire is currently 90% contained. It started with target shooting.
