Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) —Sedgwick County Health Department will begin offering COVID Vaccine Booster Shots for Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer on October 23 and Modana Booster Shots on October 27.
Eligible individuals can receive these boosters at the Sedgwick County Health Department building (formerly the downtown library building) at 223 S. Main St. in Wichita.
Unvaccinated people will have the opportunity to receive the Moderna vaccine from their local vaccine clinic from October 27th to November 24th.
Due to high demand, local vaccine clinics will not accept carry-on.Individuals have to Reserve Before arrival. If you need assistance making a reservation, please call the Sedgwick County Health Department (316-660-1029).
Hours of operation are Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 7 pm and Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Open from 9am to 4pm on November 11th, Veterans Day.
Last week, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that those who took booster shots could combine the vaccines they needed based on their personal tastes.
The eligibility of a booster shot depends on the vaccine that someone first received. For those who have been vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna, the following groups are eligible for boosters:
- 65 years of age or older
- 18 years old or older living in a long-term care facility
- 18 years or older with underlying illness
- 18+ who work or live in a high-risk environment
For those who have been vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson, booster shots are recommended for those over the age of 18 who received a single Johnson & Johnson vaccination at least two months ago.
