The 2022 BMW X4 M Competition’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder maintains the same 503 horsepower rating as before.

However, the torque swells by 37 pounds-foot, for a total of 479 pounds.

Even the smaller BMW X4M benefits from the 2022 15-pound-foot torque bump.

The extra growl helps the X4M competition reach 60 mph at 3.2 seconds per hour.

It also gives the model a 0.2 second faster sprint from the Junto at 5 mph to 60 mph and 30 mph to 50 mph, turning the time 4.4 seconds and 2.5 seconds, respectively.

The combination of 0.4-inch slimmer headlights, reworked front and rear fascia with a gloss black finish, and a low-grilled pig kidney design makes the X4 M look much better in 2022.

We still prefer the X3M, which looks more graceful, and it provides an additional 5.0 cubic feet of cargo space thanks to its more square rear.

The interior revision features a revised dashboard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display (2.0 inches larger than previous units) that runs BMW’s latest iDrive infotainment setup, and an improved user interface. Includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
