Washington-Tuesday, the US Senate passed a bill establishing June 16 as a federal holiday.

The bill, the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, was sponsored by the Senate in the Senate.Marquee, D-mass, and A bipartisan group of 60 co-sponsors.. It’s heading to the House of Representatives now.

2021 will celebrate the 155th anniversary of June 16th. This is a holiday recognizing the first day of freedom for African-Americans enslaved in Texas and commemorating the end of slavery across the United States.
