Washington — The Senate has passed a bill that enhances the security of Supreme Court judges.
Legislators strive to ensure that judges and their families are protected as courts consider access to abortion and whether to overturn the groundbreaking Roe v. Wade decision.
A bipartisan bill passed by voice vote on Monday without objection.
No additional funding will be provided, but it may come later.
The bill aims to make courts comparable to governments and legislatures so that safety is provided to nine judges as some protesters have gathered outside the house.
The bill will come a week after Politico leaks a draft of the Supreme Court’s opinion that the Roe v. Wade case will be overturned in June.
The bill is currently being transferred to the House of Representatives for consideration before heading to President Joe Biden’s desk.
