Previously, Seton Youth Shelters worked to raise $ 4.1 million out of the $ 5.3 million total capital campaign target for the past year and a half.

The Building Promise Capital campaign aims to bring all Seton programs and services to the former church location on 3396 Stoneshore Road, one campus.

“This support in the cities where our programs and services are located is within the goals of our Building Promise,” said Jennifer Sieracki, CEO of Seton. “We are now approaching 90% of the budget’s construction costs. We are confident that community support will be able to fill the remaining $ 700,000 election funding gap and complete the new campus.”

The funds were approved by the Virginia Beach City Council during the meeting on 16 November. The city was awarded $ 136.4 million by the US Government through the Coronavirus State and Local Finance Recovery Fund under the US Rescue Planning Act.

“As with Virginia Beach, we are pleased to be able to support this valuable objective,” said Deputy Mayor Rosemary Wilson. “Thanks to the many supporters and volunteers who made this transition possible with Set on Youth Shelters.”

Seton Youth Shelters has been around since 1985 and supports boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 18 in two housing centers. They are given the food, shelter, clothing, school supplies, and counseling and support they need to return to their families or move on to another safe home environment.

Seton also visits local schools, events, and neighborhoods. The organization offers crisis intervention, counseling, and shelter options, and also runs a mentoring program for prisoner children.
