Honolulu (AP) — US Judge Gives Preliminary Approval to Settlement Proceedings by Hawaiian prisoners Those who claim that state officials mishandled pandemics and failed to protect them from prisons and outbreaks of COVID-19 in prisons.
The settlement will establish a committee of five to oversee other measures to improve public health and hygiene, hygiene and medical surveillance in correctional facilities.
The judge states that the settlement is “fair, appropriate, and rational.”
The situation described in the court documents included a sick detainee near a toilet full of urine and feces.
