Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) — Seven years have passed since the life of 25-year-old Montines Johnson was robbed in South Nashville after his mother called it a pointless act of violence.
“The murder is that someone died in a car accident, oh, they were killed in a car accident, you know. This was a murder. This person was going to do what he did. “Johnson’s mother, Nedra Jones, said.
Johnson attended Whites Creek High School, was an avid basketball player, and was probably best known for his role as a father. He now has three daughters, ages 7, 8, and 12.
“Everyone says I look exactly like him. It looks alike,” said Malaysia, Johnson’s eight-year-old daughter.
Early in the morning of July 26, 2014, Metropolis was called to a college court and found Johnson shot dead. His mom said he had just laid down one of his daughters when he left the apartment.
Witnesses told police that Johnson was standing with two other men. One of them was his cousin. When someone runs up and shoots all three.
“My nephew, he was shot, you know. My best friend was shot. It not only affected our family, but also the shooter’s family. Now , His family … I don’t know if they’re hiding him or what happened to him. As I said, I don’t know who he is, “Jones said.
Johnson’s cousin returned the fire, but did not hit the suspect. All three were shot dead, but only Johnson was killed.
Police were later reported that a shooting broke out after a text about the girl.
“If you’re going to kill someone with a text message or words, think about what happens. For example, if you’re walking down the street and hit that person, he could kill the person you hit. For example, they Let’s say you’re in a car accident. The person wasn’t going to have a car accident, but he could get out of the car and be killed. You don’t know, “Jones said. ..
Johnson’s mom is now helping to raise her daughter. This breaks her mind and at the same time gives her the power to pass through.
“They left this baby and her sister without a dad raising them together. He was a great dad. And he was a great dad, he took care of these girls, you know Do you? “Jones said.
Now his family asks anyone who has information about his murder to come forward and help bring them peace.
“I mainly said that it was time, you know, because seven years is really too long for a mother and child to be without justice,” Jones said.
