Atlanta (CBS46)-A woman in South Georgia was killed after a storm struck on Monday and a tree fell from the roof of Bonaire’s house.
A Houston County prosecutor confirmed that 55-year-old Carla Harris was sitting on the couch when the tree landed in a double-width mobile home at around 4:30 pm.
Harris was the second person to be killed Monday afternoon when a line of storms extending from central to South Georgia struck the state.
Restaurant owner Scott Hudson, 60, was killed in Douglas County when a tree fell on an SUV while driving on Campbellton Street in Douglasville.
Two dogs were crushed on Orchard Road, a few miles south of Douglasville, when a tree fell directly into an outdoor kennel that housed two dogs.
Darryl Bralock told CBS46 that he hurried home when his neighbor said his dog was injured. When he arrived, he learned that one of the dogs had died in the shock. He hurriedly took another dog to the vet’s clinic and received some bad news.
“He wasn’t going to get it done. They said his spine was crushed, and he was just lying there,” Bralock said.
Bralock made the difficult decision to defeat the dog, he said.
More severe weather is expected to pass through Georgia on Tuesday.Stay vigilant CBS46 weather..
