Kansas City, Missouri (KCTV)-A man who claims to have failed numerous autopsies by pretending to be a doctor is currently accused of federal fraud.

Shawn Parcells has been charged with 10 wire frauds.

Parcels has been the subject of numerous KCTV5 surveys over the past two years. He is not a doctor, but he is paid to perform hundreds of autopsies. Families across the country claim that Parcels received money under another name but did not complete the autopsy.

In addition to criminal penalties, the indictment seeks to recover more than $ 1 million in fees paid to Parcels by the family.

I first learned about Purcell from Lacy Ranford. Upon hearing the news of the accusation, she wrote to us:

I started looking for someone to help me find the answer to why my mother died suddenly. I never imagined that such an evil monster would answer the phone that day. I was certainly not the first he used during the deepest sorrows and sorrows of my life, but I promised to be at least one of his last. This is one less evil that has plagued our country..

In addition to the federal accusations filed today, Parcels faces numerous state-level accusations of corpse theft and blasphemy criminal accusations in Warnbunsee County, Kansas, and consumer fraud. The Kansas State Healing Arts Commission has filed a civil suit accusing him of pretending to be a doctor.

Parcels faces up to 20 years in prison in federal prison and can be fined up to $ 250,000 each count if convicted.
