A woman walking along Route 2 in Shelburne died at about 6:30 am on Tuesday, and police arrested a Northampton man in connection with the fatal accident.
According to state police, a 45-year-old woman living in Shelburne Falls was beaten while walking along Road 2 with her companion. The woman was confirmed dead on the spot.
Laurie Roisel, a spokesman for the Northwestern Prosecutor’s Office, said: Said Police will arrest a 51-year-old man in Northampton in connection with the crash and be prosecuted in the Greenfield District Court.
The name has not been disclosed and the charges have not been revealed.
The accident is under investigation by the district attorney’s office and the state police assigned to the State Police Clash Analysis and Reconstruction Division, and the chief coroner will determine the cause of death.
