Wichita, Kansas (KSNW) — Wichita State University basketball is rapidly approaching, and the Shockers have announced promotions for the upcoming 2021 to 2022 season.
The Shockers will begin the season on November 9th with a confrontation with Jacksonville at the Charles Coch Arena. Prior to the chip-off, the Shockers will announce a banner to commemorate their participation in the AAC Championship and NCAA tournaments last season.
Other highlights during the season are:
- November 13th Military Appreciation (South Alabama)
- Teddy Bear Toss Supports Local Hospital on December 11 (Norfolk)
- January 1st Stripe Out (Memphis)
- February 1st MTXE Slowback (Tulsa)
- February 5 Yellow Out (SMU)
- February 20 Blackout (Houston)
In addition to these promotions, WSU will feature Buy One Get One tickets to Norfolk on December 11, Cincinnati on January 16, and South Florida on February 12. These nights, fans can redeem their tickets for free admission to the women’s basketball game on the same night.
The Shockers will enter the 2021 basketball season, which is predicted by the league’s head coach to finish fourth at the American Athletic Conference.
Last season’s star, junior guard Dexter Dennis, and sophomore guard Tyson Etienne will return to this basketball season to play at the Shockers. Etienne has been named NCAA’s Pre-Season Player of the Year by the league coach.
Shockers Basketball ended 16-6 last season. They appeared in the first four rounds of the NCAA tournament before losing 52-53 to Drake.
