Boston (AP) —Shohei Ohtani hit 11 in seven shutout innings, hitting two hits, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Boston Red Sox 8-0 on Thursday.

He made his pitching debut at Babe Ruth’s original ballpark. This is the biggest two-way star in the sport since Ruth caused 29 swings and mistakes from a Boston batter. He threw 81 out of 99 on strike, which is also a career height.

Jared Walsh hit four RBIs and hit a two-run home run on a left-wing foul pole in the seventh inning, defeating a scoreless tie.

The Angels turned a two-run game into an explosion when Otani’s line drive hit a green monster so hard that he knocked out his number from the starting pitcher’s slot on the manual scoreboard.

Anthony Rendon continued the RBI single to chase Tanner Houck (2-2), and Walsh added a two-run dribbler through the shifted infield to make it 7-0. Hook gave up 7 runs in 5 hits and 1 walk and hit 4 innings in 21/3 innings.

Brandon Marsh has added the 9th Solo Homer.

Otani, who delayed the start from Tuesday due to inguinal tension, allowed 6 hits and no walking. He also threw a wild pitch that allowed Rafael Devers to reach the base with his first strikeout.

Otani gave up the lead-off double to Jackie Bradley Jr. in 5th place. Sixth time, JD Martinez doubled with one out, but got stuck when Andrew Velazquez dived to catch Franchy Cordero’s bloopers and finished the innings.

history

Otani was the first pitcher to become the top four hitter at Fenway Park since Ruth, who was a Red Sox cleanup hitter in the first doubleheader match on September 20, 1919.

Otani was inducted into another Red Sox Hall of Fame in the fourth inning, making him the first starting pitcher to hit Fenway since Roger Clemens in 1996. Otani and Clements are the only starting pitchers to record hits on Fenway during the designated batter era.

Beginners

Rich Hill threw five shutout innings to Boston, allowing one hit and one walk with six hits. Although he allowed more than 13 innings of zero runs in the last three starts, he remains unbeatable during the season.

Hill retired the first nine batters in turn, then walked Taylor Ward to lead the fourth. Otani threw a high fly ball in the center fielder Bradley lost in the sun and wind with two outs. It bounced off the wall next to the Red Sox bullpen. The long-awaited ward jumped to 3rd place, but Otani was suppressed to a single.

Trainers room

Otani fouled the ball from the inside of his right ankle in the 7th inning, but remained in the match.
