From Buffalo, NY-A 18-year-old white man in a helmet fired with a rifle in a Buffalo supermarket, killing 10 people and injuring three. .. “

According to police, Peyton Gendron shot 11 black and two white victims before surrendering to authorities in a live rampage on streaming platform Twitch.

He then appeared in front of the judge in a paper medical gown and was charged with murder.

“I sincerely hope that this white supremacist, who has just committed a hate crime in an innocent community, will spend the rest of his days in the tavern, and heaven will help him in the next world,” Kathy said. The governor said. Hokuru speaks near the attack site. “It touches our hearts to know that there is an evil that lurks there.”

Hochul will attend a church service on Sunday morning, primarily in the neighborhood of African-Americans where the film was shot.

The slaughter sent a shock wave to an unstable country suffering from racial tensions, gun violence, and a series of hate crimes. The day before the shooting, Dallas police said they were investigating a series of shootings in Koreatown as a hate crime. The Buffalo attack took place just a month after another shooting on a Brooklyn subway train injured 10 people.

The suspected attack on Tops Friendly Markets on Saturday was identified as Peyton Gendron in Conklin, NY, about 200 miles southeast of Buffalo.

Investigators believe Gendron posted a 180-page document on the Internet prior to the shootings. This document included a detailed plan of the attack and his support for several mass murderers.

It wasn’t immediately clear why Peyton traveled to Buffalo and that particular grocery store. A clip from his Twitch feed, apparently posted on social media, showed that Gendron was arriving at the supermarket in his car.

The shooters shot four outside the store, three deadly, said Buffalo Police Secretary Joseph Gramagria. Inside the store, former Buffalo police guard Aaron Salter fired multiple ammunition. The bullet hit the shooter’s bulletproof armor, but it had no effect, Gramagria said.

According to the commissioner, the shooters then killed the guards, stalked the store and shot and killed other victims.

Police entered the store and confronted the shooter in the front yard. He put the rifle around his neck, but two police officers told him to drop his gun, Gramagria said.

“This is the worst nightmare any community can face, and we’re hurt and now confused,” Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said at a news conference. “The depth of pain that the family is feeling, and that we are all feeling right now, cannot even be explained.”

Twitch said in a statement that it had finished sending Gendron “within two minutes of the onset of violence.”

Law enforcement officers told The Associated Press that investigators are investigating whether he posted the manifest online. Officials were not allowed to speak publicly on this issue and did so on condition of anonymity.

Buffalo police refused to comment on widely distributed documents online aimed at outlining the attackers’ racist, anti-immigrant, and anti-Semitic beliefs. In 2019, 51 people died at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

In a previous news briefing, Erie County Sheriff John Garcia pointed out the shooting as a hate crime.

“This was pure evil. It was (a) a racially motivated hate crime from someone outside our community, outside the city next door … coming to our community. I tried to inflict that evil on us, “Garcia said.

Among the dead was Ruth Whitfield, the 86-year-old mother of the retired Buffalo Fire Department Chief.

“My mother was the mother of a motherless person. She was a blessing to all of us,” former fire department director Garnell Whitfield told Buffalo News.

Witnesses Bradin Keffert and Shane Hill, both 20 people, were drawn into the parking lot as the archers left.

“He stood with a gun on his chin. We were wondering what was going on. Why does this kid have a gun on his face?” Keffert said. He knelt down. “He stripped off his helmet, dropped his gun, and was tackled by the police.”

Officials said the rifle used in the attack, Gendron, was legally purchased, but the magazine he used for ammunition was not allowed to sell in New York.

In a statement, President Joe Biden said he and the first woman were praying for the victims and their families.

“Because law enforcement is doing that job, we need to learn more about today’s shooting motives, but we don’t need anything else to tell the clear moral truth,” he said. “All domestic terrorist acts, including those performed in the name of the disgusting white supremacist ideology, are the exact opposite of everything we support in the United States.”

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by this pointless violence,” said Tops Friendly Markets. “Our thoughts and prayers are directed at the victims and their families.”

The shooting killed 10 people more than a year after the March 2021 attack at the King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado. Investigators have not released information on why they believe the man charged with the attack targeted the supermarket.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson issued a statement calling the Buffalo shooting “absolutely devastating.”

“There is no hatred and racism in America,” he said.

Rev. Al Sharpton called on the White House to convene meetings with black, Jewish, and Asian leaders to demonstrate the federal government’s commitment to fighting hate crimes.

More than two hours after the shooting, Erica Pew Matthews was waiting outside the store, behind a police tape.

“I want to know the situation of my mother’s sister, my aunt. She was there with her fiance and they went to another aisle,” she said. “The bullet barely missed him. He could hide in the freezer, but he couldn’t reach my aunt and didn’t know where she was.
