Kansas City, Missouri — A sideshow spectator suffered a broken neck and leg when a car crashed into a large spectator on Sunday night.

Police in Kansas City, Kansas, said in a Facebook post that about 100 people appeared for the show on First Street and Aussia Avenue around 9:45 pm on Sunday.

The driver steers the vehicle in a circular motion, producing heavy smoke from the tires and a deafening noise. Police said the fun was over when the Ford Mustang spun into the crowd in the late 1990s.

The car hit a seriously injured 24-year-old man.

“The driver of this car didn’t go out on Sunday night with the intention of seriously injuring someone. He was looking for fun,” the statement said. “But when your enjoyment takes someone to the hospital, it’s time to do the right thing and take responsibility.”

The driver and his car were not found.

Police are urging drivers to contact them at 913-596-3000.

Police are also asking anyone who has attended or has a video to help identify a hit-and-run driver to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
