Nashville, Tennessee (WKRN) —According to police, SiriusXM Radio helped track a car stolen during a robbery in East Nashville late Wednesday night.
Metro officials responded to South Ace Street and Sylvan Street after SiriusXM Radio called to report the location of the stolen Dodge Charger.
Police said they had requested a metro police helicopter to assist in the search for vehicles observed at the Shell gas station on Shelby Avenue.
According to the warrant, a police helicopter chased the car while the driver passed through Shelby Park.
Police tried to deploy spike strips near Berkeley Drive and Riverside Drive, but a driver identified as 22-year-old Marrick Buchanan said he had bent to avoid the spike strips and crashed into the yard.
When Buchanan was ordered to get out of the car, police officers spoke to him and determined that he was unaware that the car had been stolen.
Police reported that he had “rented” a car from someone for $ 250.
Police said Buchanan did not have a valid driver’s license and had multiple unresolved warrants, including joy riding.
He was arrested on three charges of felony probation and misuse of a vehicle and was put in metro prison early Thursday morning. He was detained on a $ 10,000 bond.
