Severe thunderstorm warnings are valid until 10 pm in Baca and Las Animas counties. The biggest threats are the risk of hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter, gusts up to 70 mph, and isolated tornadoes. The area north of Highway 50 should remain dry from Saturday evening to Sunday morning.
Colorado Springs: Low: 59; high: 90. After the first 90s last week, Sunday could be a long 90 degree or more for Colorado Springs. In addition to the heat, there is a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon in the Pikes Peak area.
Pueblo: Low: 60; high: 97. The heat wave returns on Sunday, with highs in the high 90s and little chance of rain in the afternoon.
Canon City: Low: 60; high: 95. When the maximum temperature rises well in the 90’s, the heat is set to return on Sunday. Most of us remain dry, but we cannot rule out isolated storms during the day.

As we saw last week, this week’s forecast is dominated by hot and dry weather. The heat waves that will be seen next week will be even more severe, with highlands soaring across lowlands in the 90s and 100s for several days in a row.
