Columbia, South Carolina (WBTW) – South Carolina lawyer Peter McCoy announced his resignation on Tuesday, less than a year after taking office, according to his resignation.

The signed letter states that McCoy’s resignation will take effect on February 28, 11:59 pm.

“It was a lifetime honor to serve as a US lawyer in our great country and the beloved state of South Carolina,” McCoy said in a letter. “It is my privilege to thank you forever to work daily with the dedicated employees of this office to enforce the rule of law fairly, to keep the constitution and to make the community safer.”

McCoy took office in March 2020. His letter did not clearly state why he resigned.

On February 9, CBS reported that the Biden administration would begin seeking resignation from dozens of lawyers appointed under the Trump administration.
