Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (WBTW) — This week is the first designated boat and fishing week in South Carolina.
SCBFA’s goal is to connect manufacturers, dealers, retailers and boaters.
Getty Brannon, CEO of SCBFA, states that South Carolina has one of the most unique mixed boat and fishery leaders in the world.
“It’s a good idea to show you what South Carolina has brought to the industry, how boating and fishing affect mental health, and what outside can bring to people after a pandemic. I thought it was, “Brannon said.
Boating and Fishing Week serves as an advocate for both industries and introduces what the state has done to keep the industry prosperous in terms of economy and natural resources.
The goal is to expand and protect access to available water and fishing, recognizing the experience of making South Carolina waterways unique.
“There are four or five of the largest fish and gimmick manufacturers here, and there are more than 27 boat manufacturers here. We make up about 5 billion people in the economy and employ more than 23,000 each year. It’s producing, “says Brannon.
Last summer, during the pandemic, there was a shortage of boats due to more people doing summer activities outdoors and on the water.
Today, the industry has the highest boat purchases in 13 years and the lowest supply in 13 years.
“During COVID, supply and demand changed a lot. I think many people who were saving money to do something on vacation or in a normal year bought a boat and went out more. “I will,” said Brannon.
According to Brannon, South Carolina’s boating and fishing industry contributes nearly $ 5 billion to the economy and is home to about 650 boating and fishing-related companies.
Like most industries today, the boating industry is experiencing worker inequality.
SCBFA states that those looking for a job have plenty of manufacturing opportunities. For those who feel they can learn, go to a boat builder and learn how to be part of the manufacturing process.
