Columbia, South Carolina (WSPA) – An agent at the South Carolina Revenue Service said a South Carolina Revenue Service agent had been arrested and charged with operating a business without a license.

According to the arrest warrant, Lyman’s Laura C. Lawson, 49, operated Carolina Threads Monogramming and Gifts LLC in December 2019, and the Internal Revenue Service revoked the retail license for not paying business taxes.

Lawson was reportedly told to close the business and stop retail sales, but investigations revealed that the business was still selling.

According to a news release from SCDOR, Lawson faces up to 30 days in prison and / or a $ 200 fine.

She is taken to the Spartanberg County Detention Center, where she is waiting for a hearing.
