Florence County, South Carolina (WBTW) — After the first start of construction in November 2020, the Bucky location in Florence County has finally opened.
According to employees, shoppers began lining up at 3 am and were the first to enter a Texas-sized travel center. This location is the first Buc-ee location in South Carolina and is equipped with 120 gas pumps.
Opposite the pump, there are more than 50,000 square feet of stores where shoppers can buy everything from freshly made barbecues and other unique snacks to household items.
Travel Center General Manager John Graber said thousands of customers are expected to pass by on the first day alone, and more visitors are expected on the weekends.
“Everyone comes out. Think about it, this is history,” Graber said. “As you can see now, it fills up rapidly. It’s pretty hard to hear, but this is nothing compared to what happens this weekend. We’re very excited. “
Governor Henry McMaster and other elected officials stopped by for a ribbon cut on Monday morning. There they were amazed at the size of the store and shared their enthusiasm for economic growth.
Graber said he expects South Carolina’s first bucky to be not the last.
