According to the South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, Palato began his career at the Sheridan Fire Department and joined the Cunningham Fire Department in 2000. Cunningham merged with South Metro in 2018.
According to SMFR, Palato’s cancer, which was diagnosed as an “occupational cancerous tumor” in 2017, has resolved but has recurred. Palato retired in March due to cancer.
“As a 21-year emergency medical worker, there is no doubt that Tony has been exposed to many lives and will be remembered as a kind, compassionate and compassionate person with a true servant’s heart. He will be greatly missed. “The fire department said.
On Wednesday, the SMFR facility flag was half-masted and personnel badges were covered in honor of Palato.
He has survived by his wife. SMFR said on Twitter that he had two daughters and “his second firefighter’s family.”
