London — Wine is not worldly, prices are stratosphere.

A bottle of French red wine that flew around the globe for 14 months on the International Space Station is on sale.

Christie’s auction house is looking for about $ 1 million in a bottle of Petrus 2000. This was one of 12 bottles sent to space in November 2019 by researchers investigating the impact of lack of air on agriculture.

“This Petrus 2000 bottle represents an important step in developing wine maturity and pursuing a deeper understanding,” said Tim Triptree, International Director of Christie’s Wine & Spirits. I am. Written release..

The experiment was supervised by Space Cargo Unlimited.

The wine is served in a unique trunk created by Maison Dahl Reatelier Victor and a corkscrew made from meteorites.

In a March tasting, wine experts said space-aged wines are subtly changing.

Wine and trunks are offered for private sale to wine and space enthusiasts.

Christie’s says some of the proceeds will be used to study the future of agriculture.
