Washington DC — Current and former special operations soldiers march on the streets of Washington DC this weekend to help the families of fallen troops.

50 of the Fallen Events are hosted by Chad Conley, Master of the Green Beret. He and other volunteers are in the midst of a 50-mile turmoil in the country’s capital to raise money for a special forces charitable trust.

They will embark on a journey on Saturday afternoon and finish the march on Sunday morning.

Conley posts an update to his Instagram account @ 50_for_the_fallen. He addresses the common challenges of an hour-long journey and builds friendships that can help heal the pain of loss.

“Take some time, listen to the words and enjoy this time,” he said in a post. “This is not sadness. Celebrate those who have been there before, remember happily, and be glad and proud that you know them.”

50 for Fallen held a similar rack march in New York City in September for the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

You can follow their progress at 50 on the Fallen Instagram page.

Donation, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities can be found at 50 on the Fallen web page.
