The Pittsburgh Arts Commission will hold a special hearing Thursday on the future of Pittsburgh’s Christopher Columbus statue.The statue has been in Schenley Park since 1958.However, amid renewed calls for racial justice across the country, some have pushed for the statue to come down, citing Columbus’ treatment of indigenous people.The commission looking for input on whether the statue should be left alone, removed, replaced or altered.The special hearing and public comment will happen at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Zoom.It will also be live-streamed here.The arts commission will make a decision on the statue next week.
