Nashville, TN (WSMV)-Special Olympics are underway here in central Tennessee while waiting for the Olympics to begin in Japan. More than 120 athletes participated in athletics as well as tennis. The game was played at Lipscomb University. For many, this was the first time they were able to participate all year round.

“Our coaches, athletes, unified partners, volunteers and staff are excited to be back on the track, court and gym. Athletes are training hard at home and in local programs. Tennessee Victoria Mehren, director of the Special Olympic Games, is ready to return to the area’s competitions to meet friends, show off his athletic performance and get the chance to win his first medal of the year.

Powerlifting and Bocchi events will take place on the weekend of July 24th in Lebanon and Franklin. Audience capacity is limited by the game. For more information click here.. I’m with you on the go!
