Las Vegas (KLAS) — The Special Olympics Nevada (SONV) hosts the annual Nevada Southern Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) on Friday, October 8th, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Traditionally, the event will feature more than 500 law enforcement officers and SONV athletes from 42 agencies across the state, with the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope.”

On a 2.5-mile course, the relay run begins at the 4860 S. Las Vegas Boulevard’s LVMPD South Central Area Command and goes down the Las Vegas Strip.

The event sponsors are:

  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Republic of Ore title
  • T-mobile
  • Learner and Row Care
  • Knights of Columbus

Participants must be members of local law enforcement agencies. However, by visiting the SONV website, the general public can donate to runners to support the event.

The cost to participate in LETR is $ 25.

LETR’s mission is to support SONV through financing and public awareness while improving the quality of life for athletes. In addition to supporting the organization’s sports, education, athlete leadership training, and health programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities, the donations collected during the event will establish an independently operated branch in Nevada. We support SONV in our efforts.
