A bus carrying immigrants from a border city in Texas arrived in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday.Second time within 3 weeks.

The office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was not officially notified, but became aware of a bus being dispatched from Brownsville, Texas, to Los Angeles Union Station on Friday, said Bus spokesman Zach Seidle. said in a statement.

“The City of Los Angeles believes in treating everyone with respect and dignity and will continue to do so,” he said.

The bus arrived around 12:40 pm on Friday and the 41 asylum seekers on board were welcomed by groups of faith groups and immigrant rights groups. Eleven children were on board the bus, according to a statement from the Humanitarian Immigrant Rights Coalition.

Asylum seekers came from Cuba, Belize, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua and Venezuela. They received water, food, clothing, and initial legal immigration assistance at the Croatian Diocesan Center and Church of St. Anthony.

Coalition spokesman Jorge Mario Cabrera said the coalition was “less stressful and less disruptive than last time”. Most, he said, were picked up by families in the area and, unlike the first time, appeared to be eating sandwiches and water.

He said Los Angeles was not the final destination for the six who had to fly to Las Vegas, Seattle, San Francisco and Oakland.

The city received a bus of 42 immigrants from Texas on June 14. Many of them were immigrants from Central and South American countries such as Honduras and Venezuela, who were not provided with water or food.

Mr. Bass said at the time that the city would not be swayed by “politicians who play with lives.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said California sent its first buses to Los Angeles as it declared itself a “sanctuary” for immigrants and extended protections to illegal immigrants.

It is unclear whether Mr. Abbott sent the latest buses. He sent a message to his office by phone, but it was not returned immediately.
