NS. LOUIS (KMOV.com)-A St. Louis Marine was shot in the head while driving in Iowa, remained in the hospital, and struggled for his life.

Corporal Lance Gabe Hofner, 20, was shot in the head when he drove back to his grandparents’ home in Iowa City. His car turned across the median strip of the freeway and stopped in a ditch.

Hofner attended Kirkwood High School and graduated in 2020. His parents live in St. Louis.

The doctor said he couldn’t remove the bullet from his head and needed to remove the left part of his skull to tolerate the swelling. His pressure level has returned to normal, but he is struggling to regain movement on the left side of his body.
