Star Clemson Quarterback Trevor Lawrence Test Positive for COVID-19

The top-ranked Clemson Tigers star quarterback is isolated, but may be in time for a big game with the Fourth Notre Dame next weekend.

Trevor Lawrence, Clemson’s star quarterback, tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Tigers’ first match against Boston University on Saturday. Lawrence and the program were announced Thursday night. Lawrence’s positive test came on Wednesday after he tested negative on Sunday, Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich told CBS Sports.

Lawrence missed the match on Saturday and the status of the confrontation with Notre Dame University next week is unknown, but it looks like he could be cleared.

“I tested positive for COVID-19, but the symptoms were relatively mild while following the Clemson and ACC protocols. The pain is that I missed the opportunity to play games with my teammates this weekend. According to ACC guidelines, athletes who test positive should be quarantined “at least 10 days after the start of the symptom / positive test”.

Until Lawrence returns, the Tigers will look to true freshman DJ Uiagalelei. This is a 5-star outlook from the 2020 recruitment class. Uiagalelei has completed a 102-yard 12-of-19 pass on a backup mission this season.
