Starbucks is making other changes to raise wages for US employees and improve working conditions in stores.
Seattle-based coffee giants say baristas will have an average salary of $ 17 an hour by next summer. Some can cost up to $ 23 per hour.
Starbucks says raising wages will help attract new workers in harsh working conditions.
The company is also testing ways to streamline services and make scheduling more flexible.
Rossan Williams, Executive Vice President of Starbucks, said: “These new investments represent the ongoing commitment that we all must make to create the best opportunities and experiences for our partners.”
This action occurs when three Starbucks workers in Buffalo, NY are trying to form a union.
Starbucks opposes that effort.
