The Wisconsin Fair’s interim CEO and executive director will be Shari Black, the State Fair Commission announced Tuesday. Black will take part in the fair on behalf of Kathleen O’Leary, who will retire 24 years later.
“Shari has a wealth of experience and knowledge, which makes him ideal as an interim CEO and executive director,” John Inling said in a statement released. “The Board looks forward to working with her and her staff to continue the momentum of progress seen in State Fair Park in recent years.”
Black has been the Executive Director of the Walkisha County Fair for 15 years. In 2016, Black moved to Wisconsin State Fair Park as Senior Director of Event Services. Event services included facility rentals throughout the year, fair amusement rides and management of the gaming area Spin City. She was promoted to Chief Program Officer in 2019. This included oversight of all vehicles and attractions for agriculture, vendor services, competitive exhibits, entertainment, and state fair events.
“We are honored to have this opportunity to lead a talented team at Wisconsin State Fair Park,” Black said in a statement. “Together, we continue to focus on financial stability and security, and by continually improving the experience of all visitors to Wisconsin State Fair Park, the Board, Kathleen, and staff. Will continue to make progress. “
