New York (AP) — US health authorities are preparing a national COVID-19 vaccination campaign for young children and are recommending pre-ordered doses to state authorities starting next week.
To help prepare states and cities, some say the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sent a seven-page planning guide this week, providing important instructions on how to set up the program.
At a meeting scheduled for the next three weeks, federal officials will discuss making Pfizer’s vaccine available to children aged 5 to 11 years.
Currently, the Pfizer vaccine is approved for emergency use in children up to the age of 12. Children over the age of 16 are fully FDA approved.
Currently, no other COVID-19 vaccine is available for children.
