New Mexico (KRQE)-This Saturday was a lively day throughout the state in terms of weather. I saw record high heats, scattered violent storms, tornadoes in San Miguel County, and wildfires in Bosque. The pattern remains very active as we pass this weekend due to the storm. Again, some of these can be serious with hail with the most likely consequences. I’ve already seen golf ball-sized hail fall in Mora County on Saturday afternoon.
Best of all, the top story continues to have record heat in different parts of the state. The next few days will run at 100 degrees in Albuquerque, setting a record set in 1980. Otherwise, high fever will peak in northwestern NM early next week. You can see the high temperature of 102-105 degrees! It is caused by the strong high pressure ridge directly above us. However, this ridge will move north as it passes next week, giving you the chance to take a shower with evening clouds and high heat.
