Jackie Kelly, a spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, said the suspected transgender woman used the name Haley Mill, but it wasn’t their official name.
Witnesses told authorities that Mill deliberately drove to two cyclists while driving the 2018 Ford Escape on the 29,000 block of US Highway 40.
One of the two cyclists was treated on-site and released with minor injuries, while the other cyclist was taken to the hospital and is currently in crisis.
According to the arrest affidavit, the female cyclist who was beaten and injured suffered a “traumatic brain injury.” The man who was later beaten went to the hospital and was diagnosed with a rib fracture and lung injury.
Witnesses told investigators that the driver of the vehicle did not stop and check the injured cyclist.
A witness who was riding with a group of cyclists told police that the suspect Ford Escape dragged his bike at 70 mph and overtook him. According to the affidavit, the Witness then saw the SUV turn into a parking lot at the El Rancho Brewing Company. The witness took a picture of the escape, including a temporary license plate.
Denver SWAT assisted Mill’s arrest on Thursday afternoon, with a $ 10,000 prize paid for Mill’s capture the day before the arrest took place.
According to Kelly, the incident was “definitely a deliberate act of violence.”
