Police in Arlington, Virginia, arrested a minor on Saturday after a group of people allegedly leading police in a chase that ended in a crash on Washington Boulevard.

Police said in a statement Monday that four people were trying out the doorknobs of a car parked on N. Cameron Street before dawn on February 20th. When police officers found the Chevrolet Camaro and the other two cars that followed, they stopped them, but the driver chased them.

They went to Lee Highway and then to Washington Boulevard, where Camaro crashed into the median. According to police, the driver was chased and arrested.

Another vehicle, the Black Mercedes, was later found vacant on N. Edgewood Street. The driver was not found.

At some point during the chase, police said a third car with a temporary Maryland plate tried to speed up and hit a police officer on foot and collided with a police car. The policeman was not injured.

According to police, the theft of Mercedes was similar to the theft of another Mercedes the day before. It was one of the items stolen when someone stole a garage door opener and entered a house on North Quebec Street from the garage.

The suspect and three others allegedly stole a garage door opener from an unlocked vehicle and broke into an Arlington resident’s house through the garage. Police said the suspect stole the Mercedes key from his wallet in the house.

Minors have been charged with plots of felony, robbery, escape, and car theft.
