ESPARTO (CBS13) — Last year, a man from Espart, who had already been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, was re-arrested on similar charges.
In September 2020, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office stated that a dead cat was found on the grounds of the Esparto School. The surveillance video captured a man kicking, hitting, and dragging a cat with a camera rope.

The suspect was soon identified as Demetrius Martinello, a 23-year-old resident of Espart. He was arrested and imprisoned in Yolo County Jail.
However, on February 21, Martinero was re-identified as a suspect in another animal cruelty investigation.
As in the previous case, the sheriff’s office said a cat was found dead on the campus of Espart High School.
The exact method by which Martinero was identified as a suspect in the second case was not explained in detail, but he was subsequently put in jail again.
