Police said Thursday that a suspect in the murder of a woman found dead in Santa Anna last year had confessed to the Mexican border authorities.
Jose Valdes Jimenez was wanted in connection with the murder of 52-year-old Natalia James of Lake Forest on October 26, 2020. According to the policeAccording to Santa Ana Police Department Anthony Bertagna, one of the detectives in the case persuaded Jiminez to actually surrender to law enforcement after contacting him during his stay in Mexico.
Bertaguna refused to provide details on the evidence that led to the identification of a 59-year-old man in Rancho Santa Margarita as a suspect.
According to police, police officers found James in a parked vehicle at 600 blocks on West Russell Street. Paramedics then confirmed that she had died.

A preliminary investigation by a coroner in Orange County did not reveal the cause of death.
