Portland, Oregon (KOIN) —The Portland Police Department has launched an investigation into two separate “takeover style” armed robbers that may be related.

Around 1:30 am on Sunday, Northeastern police officers were dispatched to block 4500 on 60th Northeast after receiving reports of armed robbery at a convenience store. The PPB said two gun-armed suspects stole cash and left the area before police were called.

About 20 minutes later, another call was made and an armed robbery was reported. This time it happened on 7300 blocks on North St. Louis Avenue. At least one of the suspects fired at two cars outside a nearby store and shattered the windshield. According to the PPB, the suspect fled the scene before the police arrived.

One person was injured in a glass shattered by the shooting. The extent of the injury was not immediately known.

“A robbery investigator has responded and is currently investigating the crime,” the PPB said in a Sunday announcement. “They are looking to see if the robbery is involved.”

If you have information about the robbery, please contact Detective Brett Hawkinson.
