Sweden is back to haunt the USWNT again due to the impact of the Olympic thrashing | Tokyo Olympics 2020

Stina Blackstenius scored two goals and Sweden won 3-0 on Wednesday, again astonishing the United States at the Olympics.

The American, who ranks number one in the world and likes to win a gold medal in Tokyo, has won 44 undefeated games in a row. However, in recent years Sweden has often become an enemy of Americans. Swedes defeated Americans in the 2016 Rio Games quarterfinals with a penalty. This is the first ever US Olympic exit for a women’s team.

Then in April, Sweden played against the United States in a one-on-one draw in Stockholm. This was a streak dating back to January 2019 when Americans lost to France for the World Cup.

Blackstenius fired a header in the 26th minute, with Sweden leading the first half. The last moment the Rose Label shoot hits the post, half of the opening is most likely to come, and the United States is out of date. American coach Vratko Andnovsky made changes in the second half, with Alex Morgan defeating Carli Lloyd and Sam Mewis defeating Julie Ertz. However, Blackstenius scored again in the 54th minute, beating goalkeeper Alyssa Naehar, and the Americans continued to struggle. After that, Lina Frutig scored in 72nd place.

This defeat was the first for the United States under Andnovsky to take over when Jill Ellis resigned following the team’s victory at the World Cup in France.

Tokyo is Sweden’s seventh Olympic Games. After eliminating the American penalty in the quarterfinals five years ago, the Swedes won the silver medal and lost to Germany 2-1 in the final.

The United States has four Olympic gold medals, more than any other country. The team aims to be the first player to win the Olympic gold medal following the World Cup title.

Sweden is now heading Group G for a match against Australia in Saitama on Saturday. Meanwhile, the United States will play against New Zealand. The top two teams in the group proceed to the knockout round.
