Nefco, a Nordic Green Bank, has a loan agreement with Coloreel to support growth and expansion in the global market. The technology developed by Coloreel has a positive environmental effect on the textile industry by minimizing the use of yarn waste, chemicals and wastewater. Coloreel is Sweden’s leading textile innovation brand.

Coloreel uses 100% recycled polyester yarn to provide design freedom for digital printing with unlimited colors and effects, while providing high quality embroidery. On-demand thread coloring and fully recycled materials reduce the environmental impact of embroidery, making Coloreel a unique partner for sustainable garment companies, the company said in a media statement.

All known embroidery machines on the market rely on reels of pre-colored individual threads for each color used in the embroidery process. Coloreel’s unique patented technology addresses this issue by using a single recycled polyester yarn as input, thereby eliminating the need for colored yarn, which is a significant source of wastewater pollution. Coloreel’s on-demand solution also reduces the amount of thread wasted in the embroidery process.

Coloreel’s innovation was driven by the significant environmental impact of the textile industry and the challenges posed by traditional methods of processing yarn. This requires hundreds of yarn reels to be stocked without guaranteeing that the appropriate colors are available to complete subsequent jobs.

“Coloreel is pleased to be able to provide this funding as it could make embroidery and garment production much more sustainable than it is today and take a major step towards the cyclical nature of the textile industry.” Nefco, Investment Adviser, Fredrik LarssonSaid in a statement.

“Nefco’s financing has greatly helped us in supporting our international expansion, and we are keenly aware of the sustainability benefits we can offer to the textile industry.” Coloreel, CEO, Torbjörn BäckSaid.
