KOIN, Oregon — A swimmer in his twenties went missing at the Frenchman’s Bar in Vancouver on Sunday night and did not reappear.
The Vancouver Fire Department said it had responded to reports of drowning shortly before 6 pm. A male friend reported that he was about 15 feet below the surface of the shore. According to a friend, he wasn’t wearing a life jacket.
Rescue teams from the Portland Fire Department, Multnomah County, Clark County and other agencies responded to search for water. Radar was used but could not find a man.
The surgery changed from rescue to recovery one hour later.
It’s unclear if the search will resume on Monday morning.
