The Swiss stock market began with a strong move on Monday morning, but soon eased and fell into a negative territory, then remained weak and significantly dropped the session.
Benchmark SMI ended at 11,691.18, 126.02 points (1.07%), the lowest of the day. In early trading, the index progressed to 11,881.61.
Sika decreased by 4.7%, Geberit decreased by about 3.6%, and Givaudan decreased by 3.1%. Lonza Group, Partners Group and SGS decreased from 2.2% to 2.8%.
Logitech, Nestle, Alcon, Richemont and ABB fell 1-1.9%, and Swisscom and Roche Holding also fell significantly.
Credit Suisse rose nearly 2.5%. Holcim, Swiss Re and UBS Group rose 1.2-1.5%, while Swiss Life Holding and Zurich Insurance Group rose about 1% and 0.65%, respectively.
In the Swiss Intermediate Price Index, Tecan Group fell more than 7%, VAT Group fell 6.25% and Galenica Sante fell 5.8%.
Straumann Holding, SIG Combibloc, Kuehne & Nagel, Ems Chemie Holding and Sonova lost 2.7-5%. Logitech, Schindler Ps, OC Oerlikon Corp and Schindler Holding have also dropped significantly.
Dufry increased by nearly 5%. Flughafen Zurich and Helvetia rose 3.3% and 2.6%, respectively. Julius Baer rose more than 2%, while both the Temenos Group and Baroise Holding rose 1.65%.
