This donation will fund at least three eTrade preparatory assessments. It covers seven policy areas most likely to be relevant to e-commerce development and provides a diagnosis of the e-commerce status of the countries involved. In 2020, Switzerland surpassed UNCTAD’s Business-to-Consumer E-commerce Index. It ranks 152 countries by being ready to engage in e-commerce.
High scores are obtained on all four aspects of the index, with 97% of the population using the Internet (2019) and 98% of the population over the age of 15 having a bank account (2017).
It is also ranked 7th in the world for postal reliability and 5th in the countries included in the index of secure server density on behalf of online stores, according to the Universal Postal Union.
